We are passionate about teaching people to protect themselves, enhancing physical fitness, and helping everyone become the best possible versions of themselves.
As early as 1999, our instructors began teaching martial arts and have since educated thousands of students during the course of their careers.
Sensei Matt established Max Martial Arts in 2010; the vision was to create an academy where students could learn more than just techniques. The idea was to empower students to change their lives through the marital arts — to maximize the benefit martial arts could bring to them and the world around them.
We started as a martial arts club in Brentwood at Pioneer Elementary School. We soon grew into needing our own facility. We were located for a time in a warehouse. After substantial growth, we moved into a commercial space on Sand Creek Rd. But, we soon outgrew that place as well. In 2016, we found our current home at 390 W Country Club Dr, Suite D, in Brentwood, just across the street from Heritage High School.
Miss Mary started martial arts in 2003 when she was very young. She acquired a Black Belt in 2011 and began teaching by 2013.
Miss Mary runs the Martial Arts Girls Club at MAX. She is one of the first four Satori Alliance Certified Instructors, she is a Krav Maga Alliance Certified Instructor, and she’s a member of the Professional Martial Arts College. She is also one of our MAX Fit Instructors.
The founder of Max Martial Arts, Sensei Matt, has been teaching since 1999. He has a Black Belt in Taekwondo and Karate as well as training in Krav Maga, Kenpo, and a variety of other styles as well. He is one of the first four Satori Alliance Certified Instructors,
Sensei Nick has been teaching since 2002. He is a second degree Black Belt, a Satori Alliance Certified Instructor, a Krav Maga Alliance Certified Instructor, a StrikeFit Certified Instructor, and a member of the Professional Martial Arts College.
Mr. Ryan is the newest instructor at the Max Academy. He has been studying martial arts since 2011.
Miss Amelia is a Brown Belt at the Max Academy and a Satori Alliance certified instructor. She has been with the Max Academy for five years.

“Both of my children have taken martial arts from Sensei Matt. I love this program. The facility is clean and the staff is amazing. They are great with kids and make martial arts fun without compromising discipline or the art. Their program, including awesome day camps and birthday parties, is well structured and reasonably priced.”
