Labor Day Weekend Closures and Testing

How Testing Usually Works

At the Max Academy, we allow our students to test every five weeks as long as they have attended ten classes in that time. Sometimes we modify this requirement if, for example, we have had closures that prevent classes from being held.

When you are qualified to test, an instructor will pull you out of class and ask you to demonstrate the curriculum we have covered during the current cycle. If you pass, you will get a stripe to add to your belt. After you earn a red stripe, you are ready to be promoted to a new belt color. Please keep in mind that we do not allow students who have a trial membership to test up for a stripe.

How Testing Will Work for This Cycle

During this five-week curriculum cycle we have some days where the facility is closed. So, this cycle and next we will only require eight classes of attendance within the five-week cycle.

Additionally we have made a one-time change to our testing which will happen for this cycle only: we will allow testing on Week 1 of the next cycle, which is next week - beginning on Tuesday, September 7.

Closed on September 1

We will be closed on Wednesday, September 1 for our regular classes. However, if you would like to get some extra tutoring in the curriculum, our younger instructors are offering tutoring outside in the park on Wednesday, September 1. Pandas can come at 5:30 for tutoring. Juniors are welcome at 6:15. Teens can come at 7:15. These are not full classes, but rather they are a chance to work with the instructors to cover the curriculum you need. (For the Pandas, we will let them know exactly what they need to practice.) Our tutoring sessions outdoors will be free to our members. While these are not necessarily the same as our normal classes, they will be helpful for students who need to practice their curriculum a little more.

Closed on September 4-6 for Labor Day Weekend

In observation of Labor Day, we will be closed on Saturday, September 4, and on Labor Day, Monday, September 6.

Wedding Closure - September 10

As many of you know, Mr. Daniel and Miss Rebekah will be getting married on Friday, September 10. The instructors all plan to attend this wedding. Unfortunately, this means we cannot hold our usual classes on that day.

Please let us know if you have any questions about our closures, testing, or anything else. You can write us at matt@themaxacademy.com.
